The first Saturday of May is upon us. That means one thing--- The Kentucky Derby! Growing up, I would watch my parents and their friends dress up in their best attire (hats included), eat hot browns, and drink mint juleps. (Mostly drink mint juleps...) Now that I'm older, I have grown to appreciate this tradition and look forward to drinking out of those beautiful cups each year. Today, I share with you my tips to throw the perfectly themed Kentucky Derby party.
1. No party would be complete without the traditional Mint Julep. Any drink made with Kentucky Bourbon is acceptable of course | 2. You MUST wear a beautiful hat. For the kids, have them design their own hats as a cute contest. | 3. Mini Bourbon Pecan Pies are sure to please all of your guests' sweet tooth. | 4. For the men, bowties from Vineyard Vines are some of our favorites. | 5. Do not miss out on a chance to buy a new sundress! We love these from Max Mara and Topshop. | 6. My mother would disown me if I threw a party without the proper flowers. This run for the roses themed horse shoe wreath is perfect to greet your guests upon entering!
We hope everyone enjoys their Derby Day!
