Handley Breaux Designs | What to Wear...

Last week, my intern Margy shared with you a collection of ideas of what to pack for your tropical honeymoon. This week, I would like to introduce to you my second intern Keaton. Keaton is a student at the University of Alabama, and she is enthusiastic about all things events. We are so happy to have Keaton join us this summer, and today she and I share with you our guide of what to wear to a wedding during the seasonal transition.

Being a lady can be difficult. Being an appropriately dressed, stylish lady can be even more challenging. For weddings that fall within the awkward transition of spring to summer, its often unclear what is appropriate If you are like us, when you have an upcoming wedding to attend you begin flipping through your closet, piecing together an outfit that will be cute, comfortable,  appropriate for the weather, AND appropriate for the event's level of formality. That's a lot to put into one outfit, for one evening! We have compiled a few outfit ideas to help you get out of your mental closet! Below are five outfits to inspire you this wedding season:

1. Cynthia Rowley Dress & Gianvito Rossi wedges | 2. J.Crew Dress & Jack Rogers sandals

Dressy Casual or Outdoor Wedding:

Our first look is for the dressy casual outdoor wedding. For an outdoor ceremony, check the forecast! Do you need to throw an umbrella in the car? What about your cutest rain jacket? For chilly days during this period of transition, layering is always great. A pashmina, shawl, blazer, or cardigan can be put over almost any cocktail or sundress. If you have a trusty pair of wedges that can tackle the tough terrain, then go for wedges. But if you like to be comfortable and ready for anything...dressy sandals are great!

Formal or Black Tie Optional:

Ladies, get excited because formal wedding are your chance to dress to the nines! Dust off your favorite pair of heels! Female guests need to wear floor length or cocktail dresses to formal events. In the winter months, black, grey, brown, or metallic would be very popular, but for warmer spring to summer events pastels and bright colors are best. This yellow gown may seem a little too bold for some wedding guests, but for all of you fashionistas out there, the bright color is in this summer! Definitely wear heels or pumps for formal weddings. Your date will need to sport his most formal dark suit and tie or classic tuxedo. In the south, you know we always love a man in a white dinner jacket! Spring to summer transitional weddings are great events to bring out your sleeveless and strapless dresses, but don't forget to bring a wrap or sweater. We love the idea of a feminine blazer, or a cashmere wrap.

Location: Museum Wedding

Can you see yourself, making small talk amongst fine paintings and sculptures? We think a vintage looking dress like this would be a fun statement for spring and summer. The colors will really pop against all of the white walls in a museum!

Now its time to get to shopping! We can't wait to see what all of you decide to wear to our upcoming weddings!
