Handley Breaux Designs | Olivia & Taylor

Olivia & Taylor were married in late August in Birmingham. Summer in the South can be sweltering, so we wanted their design plan to be fresh and cool. Clay worked with them to create the perfect fresh, summer garden inspired wedding reception. The weather turned out perfectly, and the breeze beat the summer heat! We loved all of the added New Orleans flare to this fun couple’s wedding— the second line band even brought the party outside to end the night! Olivia & Taylor, you two are the most fun! It was a true pleasure to work with Olivia and her family throughout the planning process! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness! Thank you Kellen Jacob Photography for these great photos.

HBD: What was your favorite part of the wedding day?

Olivia: My favorite part of the was our Ceremony (even though I messed up during the vows ). After all of the planning that goes into the wedding and reception, the ceremony is the real reason why we are celebrating! I was not nervous at all until about five minutes before I walked down the aisle, and that was an exciting feeling Taylor and I both will never forget!

HBD: What was your favorite part of the wedding planning process?

Olivia: I would say my favorite part was deciding the “theme/look” we were going for and then figuring out how to incorporate that in everything (design, color scheme, flowers, invitations, drapery, lighting, etc.). We knew that we wanted it to be like a “garden party”, which was a very fun theme to work with! Between my mom and HBD, the hard decisions were covered, so I was just as excited/surpirsed to see how it looked as everyone else was which was so much fun!

HBD: Tell us about your first dance song and how you chose it.

Olivia: Our first dance song was L.O.V.E- Which has always been a favorite song of mine! My first dance song was actually something I had never thought about before, but when we got engaged I immediately knew that is what I wanted it to be. I played it for Taylor, and he said he loved it right away- So deciding that was it was easy! I feel like you can’t hear that song and not sing along, which was exactly what I was looking for!

HBD: Your dress was so elegant and beautiful! How did you know it was the one?

Olivia: My dress was actually the first dress that I tried on at the first store we went to when I was wedding dress shopping! It just so happened to be the first one on the rack that was handed to me- and from that point on I knew that it was the one. I had never really thought about what type of dress I imagined myself in, so when I went to Ivory and White I told them I wanted to try a bunch of different styles. After I tried on that dress, I compared every dress I tried on after to that one (even at the 2 other stores!). The more dresses I tried on, the more I loved the one I ultimately chose!
