There's something special about the beginning of a new year. The feeling of having a brand new year is like having a blank canvas with endless possibilities of what we can create. To start 2018, the HBD team thought it would be nice for you all to get to know us a little bit better! To give y'all a little more insight into each of us, we are sharing with you some highlights of our New Years Resolutions.
Handley: "My 2018 goal is to be more intentional. I want to work on being more present in my personal relationships and focusing my attention on the people I love when I’m with them as opposed to being distracted with work. As I’ve gotten older, I have come to treasure the friendships I have.Especially the old ones. It goes such a long way with me when my friends and I spend quality time together. It really recharges me. I also want to focus more on my personal wellness. I feel like everyone says this at the start of a new year, but in this industry it’s so easy to get run down! We are in the service industry so it’s in our job description to do whatever we can for our clients, but it is so important to remember to take care of yourself too! The better I feel, both mentally and physically, the better job I do for my clients. So cheers to a great 2018!"
Clay: "I really want to run a 5k this year! Unless chasing my kids around counts, I have never run in my life and just started a couple weeks ago- should be interesting to say the least. Also, I would really like to be more present with my kiddos, putting down the phone and not always trying to get a great photo- just playing with them while they're still little and like me!"
Maggie: "My goal this year is to do a better job of balancing my work and social life. I often find myself exhausted after a long work week and tend to veg out on the weekends. I want 2018 to be filled with more spontaneity! One thing I have fallen in love with this past year is Orange Theory Fitness. I hope that through the upcoming year's busy schedule I'll still be able to make time and kick butt!"
Hannah: "I'm extremely excited about 2018. I have a feeling it's going to be a great one! I have about a novel of new years intentions (because I need better odds of actually completing them), but I'll only share a few. I really want to prioritize my days better. 2017 seems like such a blur for me. Using my planner, I'm hoping I can look at my days, weeks, and months and figure out the things I really need to do. I'm the world's worst about focusing on a million small things before I get to anything big. Another goal of mine is to be more thoughtful. I really look up to my older sister, Taylor, who is the best about writing thank you cards, calling to see how your day was, or sending flowers. Everybody needs a Taylor in their lives! Lastly, though small, I want to make my bed everyday- because if you want to change the world you start by making your bed, right?! "
