To be blunt, I've had a girl crush on Sloane Jones since I met her. She helps many of my brides find their perfect dress at Ivory & White. If I'm looking for a new trend I always look to her! She's just about the most stylish person I know....and I'm insanely envious that she can always pull it off! Today, she's sharing her style diaries from her recent anniversary trip to Mexico!
Rick and I visited Cancun, Mexico to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of our marriage and to say it was fabulous would be an understatement! Neither of us have been to Mexico, so it was a fun experience for both of us. It's no secret that I'm fairly fashion-obsessed and embarrassingly enough, the most exciting part of taking a vacation, to me, is planning my attire for the week. I actually strategically plan outfits for what I anticipate we'll be doing throughout the trip. I typically embrace bold patterns and loud colors, but lately I've been loving a neutral palette as well as mixing and matching basic pieces. I packed a broad range of versatile pieces that could easily be dressed up or down, depending on what our plans were each night. A couple of my favorite styles included a strappy black dress with feathers around the hem, anything I could wear with lace-up heels (I took four pairs, whoops!) and three all-white ensembles I wore because white was (oddly enough) my favorite color of this summer!
I probably have the most fun shopping for swimwear- I'm a HUGE fan of different cuts and styles that many people are terrified to try. The most common question I'm asked is, "Don't you get crazy tan lines with those?!" and the answer is "Obviously, YES!" But I'm a freak about SPF and apply so much that they rarely show enough for me to care. Plus, you're on VACATION- who cares if you have a tan line?! The point is to enjoy an exotic location and for me, that means wearing crazy awesome swimsuits that make people do a double-take.
Although a little tourist-y for my taste, Cancun is an amazing, historic getaway, full of culture and life. Here are a few of my recommended activities for anyone interested in visiting:
Do: Visit the Mayan ruins of Tulum! While it was quite crowded, it's one of the most fascinating locations, rich with history. Bonus: our tour included zip-lining and cave-diving, giving us a fun, adventure-filled day!
Don't: Book any of the hour-long snorkeling trips. Unless you've never snorkeled before, you probably won't find this interesting or worth your time. Save this for a trip in the Caribbean with some truly populated reefs.
Do: Eat at some of the most fabulous restaurants abroad: The Crab House and Harry's were delicious with an amazing evening harbor view. Also, don't let the exterior of Fred's Seafood fool you- this was our absolute favorite the entire trip.
Don't: Go to the too-popular club CocoBongo. Unless you're 19 on Spring Break, this place really won't appeal to you. Walk to the cool local pub next door and talk to a few locals about their lives in Cancun- I guarantee you'll leave with some fascinating stories.
Do: Make your husband take ridiculous, non-chalantly posed photos of you to show off your outfits! Carpe diem!
You can visit Sloane for all your bridal fashion needs at Ivory & White in Crestline Village! We can't wait to see what she wears next!
